Ark of Taste Contest is Finalized


Ark of Taste contest which was launched within the EU-funded COVCHEG project is completed.

The purpose of the contest was to discover and promote local biodiversity which is in a rate of extinction, on a global scale. The Ark of Taste is an online catalog of foods at risk of disappearing that is a part of the cultures and traditions of the entire world.

Plant and animal species are to be found onboard the Ark, but also processed products, because, together with plant and animal biodiversity, cheeses, cured meats, bread and sweets, expressions of farmers’ and artisans’ knowledge are also disappearing – knowledge that exists not in written recipes, but as complex and rich skills and practices passed down through generations.

Here are the local products of Azerbaijan that are being promoted on a website of the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity.

It is important to note that there were more than 80 products nominated within the contest, we appreciate your effort and contribution. Due to this big number of nominations, it will take time to review and research these nominations. Also considering the current COVID-19 matter we expect your patience. Soon we will announce the winner of the contest and selected products which fulfill the criterias will appear on our international website.
