For the first time in Azerbaijan menu based on Slow Food philosophy has been presented

On August 20th, in Shamakhi region, Adnali district, with financial support of EU, into “COVCHEG” project framework, coordinated by Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau in cooperation with International Slow Food Association for the first time in Azerbaijan menu based on Slow Food philosophy has been presented.
In the preparation of menu, local products included into Slow Food Taste Ship have been used. Taste Ship international online catalogue maintains a list of endangered local products, where 31 of them are currently included into this catalogue from Azerbaijan.

Menu based on quality, clean and fair food principles is compiled by members of the Slow Food Chefs Alliance, well-known chefs Orkhan Mukhtarov and Abulfaz Habibov. At the moment, international chefs network Slow Food Chefs Alliance, supporting biodiversity-preserving and fair food manufacturers has more than 400 chef members and 9 of them are from Azerbaijan.

Guests had an opportunity to taste unique dishes and meet manufacturers and alliance members personally during the event.
International Slow Food Association in cooperation with Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau and with financial support from the European Union Office promotes regional food chains, as well as Slow Food Travel program models in Azerbaijan’s pilot regions – Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Gabala, Shaki and Qax in order to make a contribution into balanced development of villages and sustainable food system into framework of “Community-based Value Chain Enhancement in the Greater Caucasus Mountains Area”(“ COVCHEG ”) project .

Slow food is an approach based on the principles of tasty, clean and social justice, that provides a healthier diet, while preserving the traditions of national and regional cuisine.
