EU-Funded COVCHEG Project at Azerbaijan Culinary Congress

Within the framework othe Qızıl Şah Culinary Festival presentation, Azerbaijan Culinary Specialist Association (ACSA) organized Second Culinary Congress on February 4th, 2019, at Boulevard Hotel with the support of Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture, State Tourism Agency, and Azersun Holding. 

The event kicked off with the speech of Orkhan Muktarov, chairman of ACSA and Executive Chef of Boulevard Hotel, offering his opening remarks. During the Second Culinary Congress, vital topics such as healthy nutrition have been touched upon during the presentation of Dr. Tutu Zeynalova. Farhad Ashurbeyli famous food blogger was among notable speakers, he highlighted associations achievements in passed year. ACSA plans to focus more on working with students and international organizations, hosting a series of remarkable events, and working to unite the chef community. 

Yagub Zeynalzade, Assistant Project Manager at Slow Food COVCHEG Project, gave a presentation about the EU-Funded COVCHEG Project and its importance on the protection of gastronomic heritages while underlining Cooks’ Alliance initiative and Ark of Taste Contest. 

Cooks Alliance is an initiative of Chefs who gathered under Slow Food’s good, clean and fair philosophy in 2009 to protect gastronomic heritages and support small-scale farmers – heroes of the food value chain. Recently ten chefs from the ACSA board showed their immense interest in laying the foundation for a Slow Food Cooks Alliance in Azerbaijan in the future and promote Ark of Taste and Presidia products as well as their primary producers – farmers.

Youth Network Food for Change Baku, founded within the COVCHEG project, made remarkable contributions during the Congress procedure. Young volunteers in pursuit of practical experience aided with the welcoming and registration process of guests. After the event, Orkhan Mukhtarov gave a tour to youth network members where they explored restaurants of Boulevard Hotel Autograph Collection and met with enthusiastic cooks from all over the world.
